Those cast members in the Show Case should research material they might like to perform. When we return from winter break, we will begin to formalize our vision for this performance.

Your email made me smile. I'm sorry I had to miss your show!! I was in
rehearsals for a show I'm in this weekend at the annenberg center called
snowball. (You guys should come! Let me know if you make it out!) Eric
went and took a couple pictures fur me. You guys looked great and he
said you all did awesome. Hooray!
As for a visit; ill be out of
state from dec 22-28. Maybe on the 29? Ill have to check with Eric of

I pleased to announce that the spring 2014 comedy will be "Harvey" by Mary Chase. It is a great comedic play, that is filled with clever dialogue as well as poignant and reflective moments.
Please check out the audition information and chracater breakdown.
All actors will audition during the same period of time.....in front of one another.

Pippin!
OMG!
So...it is now pretty late (or early) and I waited until I got home to open up the "scroll"note from all of you.
Unbelievable!
Funny how things come full circle, right?
I never would have dreamed that many years after I played Fastrada, I would be, once again, part of the wonderful journey of "Pippin".
Thank you for taking the time to get the picture and to write such kind words.
I truly adore you all.....what an incredible night we had.
Bravo to all of you for staying strong as a community and to staying true to your craft.
The audience couldn't get enough........their ovation said it all.
Words cannot thank you enough for your dedication to me, the program, to music and theater.
Hope you all had a great time tonight.
If anyone wants to come over to the high school around 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, just to help move things to the boiler room and to move lights/stands/costumes... back to their proper places...I would love to have you.

Pippin, The Journey
My Dearest Friends,
I sit here not quite believing that we open tomorrow night.
It really feels like yesterday...when we gathered in a very warm choral
room......scrutinizing notes, working out harmonies and trying to make
sense of it all.
When I chose this musical, way back
when....it was my hope that you would enjoy the musical as much as I did
when I was in my high school theater department (so many years ago).
I loved being in this production...the music, the energy..the story.
It is all about the journey...is it not?
I can still remember the feeling of "community"........of belonging.
Of the excitement when we sang "Morning Glow"...or the audience's
reaction when the finale came around and the stage was left bare except
for the three actors.
I can still feel their wonderment.
I wanted to share those emotions and experiences with you...I wanted
you to have the same journey as I. I do believe you have, but you have
also gone so much further.
You have created your own
"Pippin"...you have graced the JHS stage with skills that, I can
guarantee, no other JHS theater student has performed.
You
have also embraced the newest members of our theater community. You
have blossomed into a family......into a troupe that will only enhance
the strength of our program.
Enjoy this moment......this
journey. We, as players, have gathered to truly make a magical
statement about ourselves and "Pippin".
I couldn't have asked
for a more dynamic, fun, caring, energized, garrulous, and loving group
of folks to be with and to work with.
You have raised the bar so very high.
I thank you for that.
We have created something very special.....please take a moment,
sometime during the three performances, to gather your thoughts and to
savor this unique time in all our lives.

The run starts at 7:30 p.m.
We need to be warming up by 7:00 p.m.
You need to be in make-up and costume by 6:50 p.m.
Sound Check for mics is at 6:25 p.m.
So.......the doors will be open at 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow night's make-up is up to you.

Please be responsible, read carefully, be ready, be energetic...be willing to raise the bar!
First....the Silks are in! ONLY SOPHIE is permitted to take each silk off the bannister and hang it down in the pit. ONLY SOPHIE will be in charge of the silks. Be respectful to this process. Sophie will talk to the "silk" folks before we run the show. She and Eric talked quite a bit Thursday.
Sophie will be our silk "guru".
Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. we will polish all scenes and songs. We will all meet on stage for "Magic To Do" at 11:00 a.m.
DO NOT BE LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't stress that enough.
Lunch will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m. Please bring your food.
At 1:30 p.m. four people will be getting into make-up...the rest of the cast will be changing for the run.

Pippin-Note to Cast!
Hello All,
What a day. So much accomplished......but it took quite a long time to get there.
Passion! It is what drives us all...it is what makes us push ourselves
to the next level...not to accept anything less than to be outstanding!
I feel incredibly passionate about what I do. As a performer, singer, musician, director......but most of all, as a teacher.
I
want nothing more for my students than to have them shine and blossom
in whatever they do musically, theatrically...and as people.
I
was disappointed that so many of you were late....that so many of you
had less that 100% energy and focus. So many of you let other cast
members do most of the work this afternoon. So many of you still
continued to chat.
What can I say?
The show is now in your hands. Minus a few things we need to review, this show is now up and running.
If you work as a community, if you learn your moves, lines, have your
costume ready to go.....remember what you move and when...we will all be
part of something so beautiful and totally rewarding.
You have
worked so hard, put in so many hours...singing, dancing, tumbling,
climbing silks, moving and moving again, creating, discovering....please
do not let it be all for nothing.
I honestly treasure this
cast. We are all so different, but have come together to tell a
story...to once again bring an incredibly talented group to the stage.
No other words can I share.
This show is YOURS! Yours to OWN!!!!!
You can do it.

Pippin Up-Date October 30, 2013
Hello All,
Tonight was a difficult night......but we got through Act 2!
Please take a moment to review every scene you are in.
Go over choreography...think about how we can help the crew.
Saturday will be an intense day...review, review and tons of focus on
the areas of the play that are the weakest. Remember to focus, no
talking, help one another.
We are painting at 10:00 a.m. We
would love help-if we have cast members who come at 10:00 a.m., then
that might free up the crew to practice moving sets about.
We still need AA batteries...a three smaller rakes.
We are also in search of white/black paint (flat finish)
Have a good time tomorrow night...Take a moment to relax and regroup!!!
Tickets are on sale...the good seats go quickly.
Saturday we will start at 12:00 p.m. We will keep you posted as to when folks need to come.
Silk folks have Circus School from 11:00-12:00 p.m. Saturday.

Hello All,
So...We have a possible gig tomorrow at 12:50 p.m.
We were invited to perform two songs at the Chili Cook Off/Eating Pie Contest.
That being said, I would need at least 20 cast members to perform Magic To Do and Pippin, for Corner of the Sky.
We have a TON of work to do this weekend.
A performance is awesome-but digs into practice time.
This is what I suggest.
I would need Cathrine, Pippin and Theo at 11:45 p.m. We would work until we were needed at Town Square.
At that point all cast members would need to be assembled at Town Square (in regular cloths and jackets).
After we performed our two pieces...we would all head back to school to work until 4:45 p.m. You would need to provide you own food or eat before the gig!
This is crunch time folks!
I need to hear a "yes" from 20 folks in order for me to commit to performing tomorrow.

Hello Friends,
We have been offered a few private workshops for all the cast members in preparation for our production.
I would highly recommend ALL cast members come and work at Funicular this Sunday from 5:45-7:45 p.m.

I truly believe that each cast member needs to work on their skills and be coached by a member of the School of Circus Arts.
Please confirm as to whether your cast member can attend.
I suggest car pools to help make the "going back and forth" a lot easier.

Pippin Up-Dated Rehearsal Schedule
Hello Cast,
This weekend is the last call for Bios. Get them to me asap!
The Ad deadline is fast approaching. $75 must be generated by each cast member.
This weekend is as follows:
Saturday: All cast members in the following pages need to be "Off Script" and at rehearsal and ready to work at 12:30 p.m. Do not walk in at that time...be ready to block/sing!!!! We will break for lunch at 1:45 p.m.
Pages: 14-17, 21, 24-27, 35-37, 42-44
We also will need Berthe.
At 2:15 p.m. ALL CAST MEMBERS must be ready to
run Act 1.
We will continue to work until 4:30 p.m. The cast members involved in the French Exchange program will leave rehearsal when their French friends arrive.

Ladies...you need your character shoes by next week. Guys...depending on your costume....we will let you know about your foot-wear.

I just talked to Eric. All cast members need to have their knees covered. Leggings or sweat pants will need to be worn.
Ladies...remember to wear a top that tucks in. You will be moving quite a bit and need to be covered.

Wednesday night there is a mandatory parent meeting at 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Please have your parents contact you when they arrive...so you can open the door.
You MUST have the waver form signed before Sunday...or you will not be permitted to attend the event Sunday night.

I am very proud of you all.
We are already rockin' out. Please keep spreading the word....a few more guys would be fantastic.
Start thinking about the look you want for the show. I have already talked to the costumers and they are ready for us to send them some images of how we view our look.
Remember...water, pencils and your scripts tomorrow.
I have already requested the A.C. be turned on...lets see what happens.
Think about fund raising...think about places you can get ads from...we will talk about how to solicit ads tomorrow night.

Pippin! The JHS Theater Arts Fall Musical
Dear Friends,
The JHS Theater Arts department is pleased to announce this season's fall musical Pippin!! This 2013 Tony Award Winning musical will be presented November 14, 15, 16 at 7:30 p.m. All middle school and high school students are encouraged to participate in this exciting production.
As is our tradition in the JHS Theater Arts Department, the fall musical "Boot Camp" will begin August 13.
We will rehearse:
August 13-15, 20-22 and 27-29 from 7:15-9:30 p.m. We will begin in the high school choral room (alternating between that space and the auditorium). During our "boot camp" much of the music will be learned for the production. This extra time gives us a head start on the upcoming months...and eases us into the world of Pippin!
There are no audition requirements for those students interested in being in the chorus or featured as dancer. Students who would like to audition for a principal part in this production may do so on September 8th from 12:30-3:00 p.m.

All cast members are required to attend all scheduled rehearsals as well as help break down the set at the end of the production. On November 10th at 5:00 p.m.we will have our fourth annual "cast pot-luck" dinner to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of the cast and crew. Parent volunteers will be needed for this event. All family members are invited to attend.
As in years past, there will be an extensive Ad Drive for this season's musical. All cast members will be required to raise $75. The proceeds from the Ad Drive pay for all of our cast member's costumes. The Ad Drive is crucial to our success as an educational as well as a performing arts program.
