Ode to TCWs

Here’s the story of a cast, of a crew, a show
The script was filled with words,
That they didn’t really know
They read their parts,
They saw some jokes,
They even laughed at all the boats.
They knew they had the makings
Of a show that they could boast
They went to school,
They read their lines
Where some made sense,
and some did not
Then came a man named “J”
And he really knew a lot.
Their time was spent so wisely,
The creative process it did soar
We added Batman, added Bane,
We had a rap-and even “moor”!!
They knew that this guy Shakespeare,
Had funky language and strange plots
They knew they had some work to do
And pulled out all the stops.
As we think about the journey,
All the roads we’ve travelled on.
You must admit to all the grandeur
That each night we did put on
With all the lines, and props, and costumes
You finally came together
You proved to all the doubters
That you could really do it better
I’ll miss the smiles,
The friendly banter,
And, Yes, even all the chatter.
For this cast has truly proven
That you know what really matters.
You are brave,
You are strong
You saw a vision
Then set it free.
Know that you are special
To the school,
your friends,
And me!

Update. . .

Hi Guys,

Really...a terrific show last night.

Remember-no "S ***" words at all. Ok?

Watch the Rap as well.

Dan-just one note in regards to the audience

participation...if you have an awesome

screamer (Aniya was terrific) complement her

and then say something like: "that was

great...now, lets get the audience involved"

or  something to that affect.

Bring in your $5 for the party-NO ONE

LEAVES until we are all cleaned up.

I will give clearer instructions when we meet

at 5:30 p.m. this evening!!!!

Thank you for all your hard work!!!!!

Tonight!!!!

Hi All,
Great show tonight!!!!!
I had two dear friends in the audience tonight. Both theater folks.
They loved the show. They thought the pacing was excellent-wonderful energy. But they did also mention that sometimes less is more....does that make sense?
It is hard to judge, when you are in the moment-if you are doing too little or too much. I think now we can settle in and keep things moving-but not go too much in the other direction.
Remember volume, clarity in the Rap. Don't swallow your lines-some of you did.
I want to thank those who were on task tonight in regards to no talking, helping to clean up, and not being on their cell phones.
That being said-many of you were on cells and not really focusing on the show.
It is really important for all of us to stay focused. Please...I can't stress this enough. Stay in the moment, support your fellow cast mates. Don't bring the quality of our work down by poor choices.
Remember to be ON TIME to school tomorrow.
Please remember to thank SWhit tonight. She has been a real sport-she has been in pain and is pretty uncomfortable...yet she chose to be with you all tonight.
Bravo to her!!!!
Get some rest, and as Dan said-spread the word!!!!
You have something to be very proud of.

Tonight!!!!

Good Morning!!!

Call time for ALL CAST/Crew MEMBERS 5:30 p.m.

You MUST be in the auditorium at that time.

Bring dinner/snacks/water for tonight's

performance.

Notes. . . . . March 9, 2015

Notes to think by. . . .
Act 1
1. Thank you all for reading my notes and J's, and taking them to heart. The changes have really made a difference.
2. Dan- Awesome introduction for Charlie-great "fake-out" to the audience.
3. Dan-so funny-your reaction when the music comes on for Kayleigh's bit.
4. Charlie-loved when you asked the audience members behind you if they knew King John.
5. Kayleigh-great snobbery.
6. Kayleigh and Dan thank you for covering for Michael's missed entrance.
7. Michael-you forgot to come out...Dress rehearsals should be treated like an actual performance. Also-don't re-enter the stage when you leave after the Macduff scene.
8. NO LAUGHING on stage-please.
9. Charlie-great Juliet wig.
10. Charlie-Balcony scene-so funny..excellent choices. Just don't rush your lines.
11. Dan-love when you came into the audience and then asked for a phone number.
12. Dan/Charlie-second base bit was terrific.
13. Ali-please watch your hands and volume.
14. Alicia-"it's a pisser". Wait for the laugh.
15. Alicia-great volume.
16. Alicia/Maria-you need cookies and a tray tonight!!!!!
17. Cade-great face during the Lavinia/Titus scene.
18. Sean-don't forget the rest of your costume?
19. Rap-great energy-Sean/Cade/Julia/Mattie so funny!
Act 2
20. Charlie-please take a moment to find an audience participant.
21. Charlie-not too much ad-lib. Keep the show moving-you had fabulous energy last night. Keep that up!
22. Caitlin-you need your make-up on tonight.
23. Who can help with make-up?
24. Emily-Slower death through the arch way.
25. Michael-Where was the cup? Please pre-set your props!
26. SWhitney-you so rock!
27. Corren-you are awesome!
28. No talking in the booth.....please.
Tonight:
EVERYONE must be in their costume tonight-do not show up un-prepared.
We start the run at 7:20 p.m.
We warm-up at 7:00 p.m. EVERYONE must be on stage.
Make-up will take a while-please start showing up to school by 6:00 p.m.
NO TALKING-NO HANGING OUT in the choral room. Bring something quiet to do.
Please-your lack of respect is really bringing down an excellent production.
There will be clean-up groups for each night. The choral room was not the way it needs to be left. Hangers all over/trash.
NO HANGING OUT IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all!

Notes...Just a few

Notes (just a few)
Act 1
Act 1 ran about 1 hour. I hope that we can trim it down a few minutes as we continue running this week.
1. Dan-perhaps a bit more make-up up around your eyes. The lights are washing you out a bit.
2. Kayleigh-slow down and really annunciate.
3. Kayleigh-I love the way you say "it's a good read".
4.Charlie-great Beatles rendition today.
5. Please-Light Booth. No talking or moving of chairs.
6. SWhitney-really nice work.
7. Corren-so good today.
8. Michael-you need to wear the socks that come with your costume.
9. Cade/Michael-where is the third hat?
10. Football Team-you came out too early.
11. Football Team-once you leave the auditorium-Do not Make ANY NOISE!!!!!!!!
12. Michael-you need to be a bit more front.
13. Alicia-more volume "what a pisser" and "receive the blood".
14. Mattie-watch your arm when you say your lines in the football game-you blocked your face-we couldn't hear you.
15. Michael-when you are done your scene and go through the arch-do not return to the stage to exit (again).
16. Charlie-"that not too fresh feeling" was way fast.
17. Dan-can you get closer to Charlie before he burps?
18. Sean-love that you put on the hat during the rap.
19. Stage Right Rap Folks-you are too bunched up-please even out the space between both sides.
20. Dan-when you talk about getting a name from the audience-try not to mention that the show is not going well. Perhaps suggest that you want as much good karma as you can get and you would rather not use the Macb....name.
21. Mattie-do a bit more of your Godzilla and move into the light.
22. Dan-loved the witch outfit.
23. Michael-don't laugh on stage-I know its hard-but that will bring the scene down a notch.
Act II
This ran about 1 hour as well-it needs to move a bit more folks-keep the audience participation moving!
24. Dan-can you move the Sonnet section just a bit? No need to add any more bits to this section.
25. Did we loose the index cards?
26. Charlie-Pizza box?
27. Emily-you look great!!!! Good projection and reaction to Dan.
28. Puppet theater is coming.
29. Dan/Kayleigh/Charlie-loved the Dr. Who bit.
30.Light Guys...shshhshhhsh
31. Dan-can you keep checking in on the "Bobs" on stage? They need to feel part of the entire process. That is going to require a bit of running back and forth-but that way they are still in the scene and action.
32. Michael-more front with your Bane mask on.
33. Light Guys-once the audience participation is over-please dim the lights.
34. Emily-go slowly through arch SL when you are dying.
35. Dan-great reference to Imogen heap.
36. Dan-love the Lord of the Rings/Golem voice bit. So funny and creative.
37. Dan-we need to sing through the mash-up. Lets talk in the morning.
38. Maggie-great reaction to the poison-but...you need to learn the last of your lines.
That's it folks.
The run will start at 7:30 p.m. Warm-ups at 7:00 p.m.
Be ready to rock with wonderful energy and enthusiasm
You have a terrific show. SELL TICKETS!
J-we can't wait to see you tomorrow night.

We have almost paid for our

programs/tickets/posters!!!!

Way to go!

Shirt sizes needed asap!

Notes. . . . . .

Notes:
Act 1 and 2:
Just a general note-no need to an any new bits to the show. You guys have something very special here-everything has its place now. Please be aware that what you add may not be for the benefit of the production.
1. Dan-don't "bit my thumb" too long.
2. Dan-really nice introduction.
3. Mattie-please review your lines
4. Dan and Charlie-can you move more SL when you do the Romeo and Juliet dance? The light is more in that direction. Let me know if that will work for you both.
5. Charlie and Dan-love the "non" handshake.
6. Charlie-the "second date" bit didn't work yesterday. You are doing so well-take your time.
7. Alicia-Great scene. You could be louder when you add "oh, you don't have a hand"-when you try to high-five. You need a spoon. Can you get lady fingers and red food coloring?
8. Charlie-good delivery on your "yo!"
9.Rap Folks-you are still dropping lines...please review. The energy is awesome.
10. Michael-good "word" out with Charlie at the end.
11. Michael-general note-please speak more forward-you are a bit profile still.
12. Maggie D.-Say your lines -then move. You are always saying your lines as you are running off stage.
13. Sean-you are too funny! Good use of character voice.
14. Alicia/Caitlin-really nice use of arches in the "duck-duck-goose".
15. Alicia-Make sure that you trip and then recognize Caitlin. Right now it seems pretty "staged".
16. Football Team-wait for the music cue-before you run down the aisle. Right now-it is all happening too quickly.
17. Mr. O'Brien is going to lend us Drake Jerseys for this sequence.
18. Kayleigh-we need sandwiches and a monograph. We could use a scroll-we have two in the choral room.
19. Dan-love your "artistic" dance. Perhaps slow it down at different sections-not too crazy behind Kayleigh.
20. Good Audience Participation sequence yesterday. Remember to keep it moving.
21. Michael-Please do not add any "vine" references. If anyone would like to try something new-you need to ask me first.
Ads are due now. You need to send me the art work-that is all I need.
The printer is moving forward-so the cut-off is like yesterday!!!!
I need t-shirt sizes and orders now as well.
I will order 6 for the "bobs" of each show.
I have tickets to sell on Monday and posters to put up.
I will send out who will be performing in the English classes soon.
Cade/Mike are definitely one. How about the "duck-duck goose"? That is awesome! We will be doing the scenes in the classrooms.
Happy Snow-Day!

If you have a piano lesson-you come after the lesson. We are a week and some out from the show.
After rehearsal, I will go directly in town to get the tickets/posters.
Again...if you want t-shirts tell me NOW! (sizes???)
Review your lines-get your Ads in.
Take Care,

TCWs

Hi Folks,

So.....Spiegs and Ms. Hackett are up for a
few performances for their classes.

We are looking at next Monday.

Spiegs would love for our actors to perform
for the Seniors-since they are studying
Hamlet.

Food for thought.

We are definitely going to have Cade and

Michael: Macduff and Mac------.

Are there a few other short snippets we could
do?

For Ms. Hackett's classes, we could do Dan

and Kayleigh's opening?

Ideas?

Dan-we need to work on the Mash-up...I am

looking for Once On This Island music-and

don't forget your letter for the program.

See y'all.

Lys
